It’s that time of the month again: April’s edition of “Tapes by Indientry” features everything from synth-pop to indie rap, and though there may be no cohesive theme, these 11 earworms are songs that have stuck with me over the course of April.
There is a cliché about spring and rebirth, but it exists for a reason. Every year, it feels like the sunshine near the end of April reawakens whatever shriveled within me during the drawn-out winter months of seasonal depression. I have spent many hours in the last few weeks soaking in as much sun as my skin will hold.
For me, this weekend is a weekend of renewal in another sense – well, almost. This upcoming week is finals week at Ohio University, and by Thursday at noon, I’ll be finished with my first year of college.
I’m not one for big, sappy posts, but I will say that I’ve made dear friends and enjoyed delirious all-nighters as a News Editor and On-Air DJ for ACRN Media. I have also loved teaching new friends how to ice skate and play Cards Against Humanity, and one of my dearest pals has taken me to explore some of her favorite parts of Athens.
Needless to say, this year has been nothing short of a blast. I’ll be in Columbus this summer working full-time at the Kaleidoscope Youth Center, and I can’t wait for what is still to come, both in Columbus and in Athens.
In the short-term, however, I made a playlist of 11 of the songs I’ve been unable to shake throughout April. Check it out:
