While January marks the beginning of a new year, it can be a difficult month. It’s cold, it’s dreary, and it’s a struggle for everyone, especially those who struggle with seasonal sadness, like me. As a result, winter has always been my least favorite season; I have had to rely on music, friends, and running to keep my spirits up, and this playlist is a collection of songs both upbeat and slow that I’ve enjoyed over the past three weeks.
I want to note, too, that it’s important to celebrate the little things when you’re struggling. Even if certain wins were borne out of a terrible situation, that doesn’t make them any less of a success – be proud of yourself for accomplishing things like showering, getting out of bed, or advocating for yourself and taking a necessary break.
Anyway, enough with the sappiness: below is the first installment of Tapes by Indientry. We’re sticking with the Bloc Party theme, as that band’s records and songs are also the namesakes of Indientry’s guest series and podcast. The playlists will come once a month on the second-to-last Saturday of the month, with a goal of alternating biweekly with The Nextwave Sessions podcast.
The first playlist is appropriately titled, “Melt Your Winter Blues Away.” Check it out:
