It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here. June was crazy – between graduating, going out of town for a week, and nannying pretty much non-stop, I barely had time to breathe. July and August are shaping up to be equally chaotic, but I’m hoping to stay on top of the blog better by planning ahead.
Looking forward, I will be offline from July 6-17 for an Outward Bound backpacking trip outside of Philadelphia. I won’t have access to the internet, let alone email or social media, so don’t be offended if I don’t respond for twelve days. I’ll be looking forward to responding to messages when I get home, though, and I’ll be back on July 17, Indientry’s THIRD birthday.
About a month later, I’ll be moving down to Athens to attend Ohio University as a journalism major and a part of the Cutler Scholars program. I’ve been looking forward to college for the past four years, but it’s hard to believe that I’ll really be leaving in a little over a month. Athens has a great music scene, though, and I’m excited to check out the local bands!
(To my Columbus friends: if you plan to play any shows down in Athens, let me know. I’ll be keeping up with all of your social media, of course, but I’d love to come to see you if you’re down there!)
I am so excited to go to OU for the next four years. The Columbus music scene has treated me well, between making plenty of friends and writing for In The Record Store, and of course, I’ll be back in the wintertime and next summer. This city is home, after all.
The past four years of high school were a hot mess, as can be expected, but the primary thing that kept me going, aside from my wonderful friends, was the enthusiasm that I felt for the lovely people who make music in Columbus. I wasn’t able to make it out to every show that I wanted to, but people were understanding and supportive of me and my writing regardless.
As I leave and get ready for Athens, I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank everyone who’s helped me build Indientry into the little love of my life that it is today. I definitely plan to keep the blog going in college, but I’m not quite sure about how often I’ll be able to post just yet – I have a full class schedule for the fall semester and I’m hoping to write for ACRN and The Post, two Athens publications, so I’ll be pretty busy.
Whatever I decide to do, I’ll make sure to post an update here. For now, just know that I am both incredibly thankful and excited for the next four years at Ohio University. Go Bobcats!
